John Wayne Elliott born August 17, 1938, to Odus and Violet Elliott in Newton Conover, North Carolina passed away peacefully on November 25, 2016, at 78 years of age. John was a loving husband to Sally and a wonderful father to Renee, Marc, Mary and Carla. He was a friend to all he knew. Someone everyone knew they could count on for anything they needed. After many moves as a child and a young man, John settled in Charlotte, NC and built a life and a family with Sally to whom he was married to for over 48 years. John was the kind of man that did whatever it took to care of his family often working multiple jobs to make ends meet. Jobs including A&P Grocery, Murray Distributing, American Crank Shaft, Kirk Brown and Sons, he even carried a paper route, amongst others. Ultimately, John entreprenualiy owned his own business John's Mobile Auto Service. His true passion was his family and restoring classic cars but only with a Hemi engine! He was "married" to many widows from the church at Carmel Presbyterian and Faith United Methodist. Often being called upon to fix a vacuum, mow a yard, pick up or deliver this or that, or anything that was needed. Always showing up with a full heart and two able and willing hands. John also served his community by delivering meals to shut Ins through the Meals on Wheels program at Faith United Methodist Church. After moving to Weddington, NC he found a loving a supportive church home at Weddington United Methodist Church. John was blessed to have six siblings. Three sisters and three brothers, Myrtle, Mary, Shirley, Odus, Horace and Jay and many nieces and nephews. John has two lovely granddaughters Madison and Jessica who always called him "Pop" and his chihuahua Rosie who he called "his princess". John was deeply loved, respected and adored by his family and will be missed terribly. In lieu of flowers please make honorariums to Meals on Wheels c/o Weddington United Methodist Church 13901 Providence Rd. Weddington, NC 28104.
