Mrs. Gloria Ailleen Donaldson McCall, 90, of Charlotte, passed away at her residence on Friday, March 27, 2015. She was the widow of the late Thomas Durant McCall. The daughter of the late Walter Norris and Mary Anna Moore Donaldson, she was the oldest of ten children. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister in addition to her husband and parents.

Surviving Mrs. McCall are her two sons, Luther Thomas McCall and Charles Richard McCall, both of Charlotte. She is also survived by three brothers, two sisters, five grandchildren, seven...

Mrs. Gloria Ailleen Donaldson McCall, 90, of Charlotte, passed away at her residence on Friday, March 27, 2015. She was the widow of the late Thomas Durant McCall. The daughter of the late Walter Norris and Mary Anna Moore Donaldson, she was the oldest of ten children. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister in addition to her husband and parents.

Surviving Mrs. McCall are her two sons, Luther Thomas McCall and Charles Richard McCall, both of Charlotte. She is also survived by three brothers, two sisters, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McCall grew up in the area now referred to as NoDa in Charlotte. She retired from SOBAR, Inc. (a division of Avery International). Her knowledge of the mill village of North Charlotte was instrumental in the book written by her cousin, Lois Moore Yandle, "The Spirit of a Proud People." Gloria will always be remembered for her giving spirit to her many charities and always gave with a willing heart and love.

The family will receive friends at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park on Monday Evening, the 30th of March, from six o'clock until eight o'clock. A service celebrating the life of Mrs. McCall will be held on Tuesday, the 31st of March at two o'clock in the afternoon. Interment will follow in the family plot at Sharon Memorial Park.

In lieu of the customary remembrances, the family requests that memorial contributions in memory of Gloria be made to Samaritan's Purse; PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
